Terms of Service
1. Agreement
By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using MacroSnap ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
MacroSnap is operated by Ernie Albers d/b/a Taproot Systems, in the US state of Texas.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use MacroSnap. By creating an account, you represent that you are 13 or older. We do not knowingly allow accounts for users under 13 — see our Privacy Policy §8. If you're under 18, you also represent that your parent or legal guardian agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
3. Your account
You're responsible for what happens under your account, including:
- Keeping your password (or your Apple/Google sign-in) secure.
- Notifying us if you suspect unauthorized access (security@trymacrosnap.com).
- The accuracy of the email address and any other info you provide.
You may use MacroSnap on multiple devices simultaneously with the same account. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or use the App in ways that damage other users or our infrastructure (spam, abuse, attempted exploits). We'll usually try to give you a heads-up first, but for severe violations we reserve the right to act immediately.
4. The App is not medical advice
MacroSnap is a food + macronutrient tracker, not a medical service. The information the App provides — including AI-estimated macros, keto-friendliness ratings, daily carb targets, and any other guidance — is:
- An ESTIMATE, not a measurement. Photo + voice analysis is approximate; AI models can be wrong; portion sizes are guessed.
- For INFORMATIONAL use only.
- NOT a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment from a licensed physician, registered dietitian, or other qualified health professional.
Before changing your diet — especially if you have a medical condition (diabetes, kidney disease, eating disorders, etc.), are pregnant or nursing, or are on prescription medications — consult a doctor or registered dietitian.
The keto, low-carb, and high-protein presets in MacroSnap are common dietary frameworks, not recommendations. We do not endorse any specific diet for any specific person. Your carb cap, calorie goal, and macro ratios are choices you make yourself.
The optional health-context features (GLP-1 medication mode, perimenopause/menopause mode, sodium tracking) tailor in-app targets and guidance to information you provide. They are informational only and not medical advice, do not diagnose or treat anything, and are not a substitute for your doctor, pharmacist, or registered dietitian. Sodium and other macro figures are estimates — the App reads photos and descriptions, not complete recipes, so actual values can differ. Always follow the guidance of your prescribing clinician regarding any medication.
If you experience health issues you believe are related to using MacroSnap (e.g. dangerously low blood sugar, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance), STOP using the App for diet guidance and contact a medical professional immediately.
5. AI-generated content
MacroSnap uses AI (Anthropic Claude and OpenAI Whisper) to analyze your meal photos and voice notes. AI outputs are estimates and may contain errors: foods can be misidentified, portion sizes are best guesses, and macronutrient estimates can be off by ±20% even when the food is correctly identified.
You are responsible for reviewing what the AI returned before saving a meal — the Confirm screen exists for exactly this purpose. We are not liable for inaccuracies in AI-generated estimates. We do NOT use your meal data to train AI models — see Privacy Policy §4.
6. Acceptable use
You agree NOT to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
- Upload photos that depict illegal content.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or circumvent the App's security or rate limits.
- Use the App as a vehicle for spam, phishing, or other abuse.
- Resell or sub-license MacroSnap or any part of it.
- Use automated tools (scrapers, bots) to interact with the App outside of normal use.
Violations may result in immediate account termination and, where applicable, legal action.
7. Your data
You own your data (your meals, photos, voice transcripts, preferences). By using MacroSnap, you grant us a limited license to store and process that data ONLY to provide the App to you — see the Privacy Policy. You can export your data (Settings → Account → Download my data) or delete your account (Settings → Account → Delete) at any time.
8. Intellectual property
The App itself — the source code, design, branding, screen layouts, the doughnut-pie logo, the "MacroSnap" name — is owned by us and our licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute it without permission. You may use screenshots of the App for personal social media posts, reviews, or news commentary without asking.
9. Subscriptions & payment
MacroSnap offers an optional Pro subscription (monthly or annual) following a free trial. Core logging features remain free; Pro unlocks unlimited use and premium features.
- Billing is handled by the app stores. Purchases are processed and managed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) under their terms — we never see or store your payment-card details.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Managing & cancelling. Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting your MacroSnap account does not cancel a store subscription — cancel it separately with the store.
- Refunds. Refunds are governed by the policies of the store you purchased through (Apple or Google).
Prices and plan details are shown in the App before you purchase. We may change pricing for future billing periods; we'll give notice as required by the stores and applicable law.
10. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE FROM HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT ANY DATA WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR PRESERVED.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MACROSNAP, ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR $50 USD, WHICHEVER IS GREATER. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain liability limitations — to the extent yours doesn't, those limitations don't apply to you.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the App.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time for any reason, including violations of these Terms. You may terminate your account at any time via Settings → Account → Delete or by emailing privacy@trymacrosnap.com. Upon termination, Privacy Policy §5 governs how long your data persists (typically 30 days for deletion, 90 for backup rollover).
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be surfaced in-app with a notice requiring your acknowledgment. Continued use after notification means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing law & dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Informal resolution first. Before filing any formal dispute, you agree to contact us at legal@trymacrosnap.com and attempt to resolve the issue in good faith.
Binding arbitration. If informal resolution fails, any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the App shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), conducted in Texas or by video conference. Class action claims and class-wide arbitration are waived. EXCEPT: either party may bring an individual action in small-claims court for qualifying disputes; intellectual-property disputes; and any claim that cannot be arbitrated under applicable law. This clause does not apply where prohibited by law (notably for some EU residents).
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
17. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App and supersede any prior agreements.
